Movie Review: Piranha 3DD
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if you are not one with the wonderfully wacky world of the “Piranha” franchise, you are most likely a fuddy duddy… and nobody likes a fuddy duddy.
“P3DD” is more a parody of the remake and its excesses… namely boobs and blood (of which there is plenty of both on display here). It’s 80 minutes of pure silliness crammed full of fantastic cameos (some carryovers from the first) and fish bursting out of places they have no right to be in the first place.
If it wasn’t safe to call director John Gulager a pro at making the horror-comedy after the uproarious “Feast” trilogy, that status is virtually assured now.
Go have a ball with this completely unPC movie right now. I understand it’s only playing on like 86 cinema screens as of this writing (I myself had to trek all the way down to the city to see it in a theater). If you can find a showtime near you, by all means, see it in theaters to appreciate all that 3DD (really just regular ol’ 3D only with more tatas hurled at the camera) has to offer. Otherwise rent it! This is the first example of a day-and-date release from one of the big studios; an experiment in Hollywood economics which means you can get it this very second OnDemand practically everywhere.

Who’s up for “Piranha 3DDD”? This guy. Yes things are left wide open for an even more preposterous third film.
I’m so glad camp is back in style…
