Movie Review: Jack and Jill
Adam Sandler with or without the Happy Madison crew has been in some of my favorite movies from Wedding Singer to Spanglish, Jack and Jill is not in that category. Adam Sandler played both Jack and Jill, Jack is a family man with a good but stressful career and Jill is an obnoxious child like twin sister who is beyond lost after their mother passes. Jill comes to stay in California with Jack and his family but unknown to Jack it is for an indefinite amount of time. While watching the movie you can feel the strain between the bother sister duo, but it was difficult to feel emotionally connected to either character. Through the spastic pacing and arrangement, it was clear Jack is an insensitive brother who was blinded by furthering his future, while Jill is simply trying to be connected to family again.
In general I love Adam Sandler and really support his films, this however is a step backwards from much of his work. Would I watch Jack and Jill again, and will you enjoy it? Yes and yes, because there was more then one time that you will literally laughing out loud like when Jill’s pet bird drank a little too much Jack Daniels or when it was made more then clear how alike Jack and Jill were to each other even the immature humor like passing gas or explosive diarrhea.
