Game Review: Tomb Raider

Game Review: Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider is a very iconic franchise and it’s been quite some time since Lara Croft had a great game. Crystal Dynamics tackled the challenge of brining Lady Croft to both new and old fans in this refreshing reboot with great gameplay that helps tell a great story, showing that there is still plenty of life left in Lara Croft. Lara Croft is already a well established character. But rather than just churn out another Tomb Raider that has any ties to the previous games, they chose to start fresh and reboot the franchise starting with a retelling of... Read On

Game Review: Awesomenauts

Game Review: Awesomenauts

Tower defense is a funny thing- it becomes a lot more fun when it goes back to its multiplayer roots as the 2D MOBA, Awesomenauts, proves with style and humour. The game’s intro is excellent and sums up, in cheesy, glorious Saturday-morning-cartoon style the origin of the Awesomenauts, which then segues into the game’s tutorial. To be honest, I felt a bit disappointed that the game didn’t feature any actual campaign besides the neat bit of story in the intro and tutorial- not that most MOBAs feature any sort of campaign to begin with, but it feels like there was a missed... Game Review: Double Dragon Neon

Game Review: Double Dragon Neon

In the following review I will discuss the game, Double Dragon Neon, I will focus mainly on the gameplay aspects in general rather than comparing the title to its predecessor which was released in the beat ’em up heyday. Video games have come along way in the past few decades and it is important to remember its historic roots as it is with many other notable form of media or entertainment such as comics and films. The task seems to be a difficult one in terms of bringing a game that was a hot seller in 1987 and presenting... Read On

Game Review: Darksiders 2

Game Review: Darksiders 2

Darksiders was a great game. Not only did it have a good story going for it, the gameplay was a nice blend of hack n’ slash and dungeon exploring much like the Legend of Zelda series. Of course as with most sequels, Darksiders 2 aims to be a bigger game in scope. However bigger does not always mean better and Darksiders 2’s attempt at being bigger hurts it in more ways than one. The story in Darksiders 2 does not pick up after the events of the first game which is odd for a sequel. Instead it tells the... Read On

Game Review: The Walking Dead Episode 1

Game Review: The Walking Dead Episode 1

There are a ton of zombies games out there on the market so it came as no surprise that following the success of the incredibly awesome Walking Dead tv series that a came based on the franchise would inevitably make its way onto the scene. And sure enough Telltale Games, the folks behind the Back to the Future games have done just that. And while the game falls short in some aspects, overall it does a great job of capturing what makes The Walking Dead franchise awesome. Based on the comic book series The Walking Dead, Episode 1 takes... Read On

Game Review: A Virus Named Tom

Game Review: A Virus Named Tom

http://youtu.be/rFNPOOGhjzk Have you ever recognized an Indie game from just looking at it? Well, I sure have, mostly because they either have no voice acting, terrible graphics, or are just plain insipid. A Virus Named Tom is however completely the opposite. The game was developed by the Indie team called Misfit Addict on August 1, 2012. This game is simply superb, and nothing less then what most Indie game titles should be compared to today. It combines the art-work with its fast paced quick thinking gameplay, and incredible voice acting, along with its upbeat soundtrack to make this title... Read On

Game Review: The Amazing Spider-Man

Game Review: The Amazing Spider-Man

The history of games based off of comic books has been a bumpy one. They’ve had their ups and downs. We’ve laughed with them and we’ve cried because of how god awful they were. In a long list of games based off comics only a handful have ever been not only good, but great and successfully captured what it’s like to be that character. It’s a challenge to get that right, and we all know there have been many many tries to capture the essence of our favorite heroes. But then comes the real challenge of having to make... Read On

Game Review: Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles

Game Review: Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles

Pinball has been around for a very, very long time, rather like comic books. The two seem to go hand in hand… Before we had flashy movies, we had flashy, electric pinball tables, and way back then, we knew of The Avengers in comic book form. Therefore, the world has been given the gift of Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles, a set of tables for Pinball FX 2 by Zen Studios. So are these tables worth playing? I’d say. Read on! So first off, what are you getting with MPAC? The following four tables: The Avengers World War Hulk Fear... Read On
