May 14, 2016 Game News Update – Civ VI, nVidia GPUs for Cheap, Disney Infinity Discontinuing

This week in game news, Civilization VI was announced, the starters for Pokemon Sun and Moon were unveiled, Disney Infinity was cancelled, nVidia announced cheap- and powerful- new GPUs and some great games were released; check it all out in this week’s episode of Game News Update.

If you’re looking for the week’s crowdfunding projects you’ve come to the right place! The first this week is Dome City, a game about being stranded on Mars- the developers are planning on VR support, and the story seems pretty interesting (though I think the script might need some work). We covered this one a while back when it was on Steam Greenlight, and now that it’s come to Kickstarter we’re sharing it again- check out the trailer here.

The other Kickstarter project that we’re sharing this week is for a game called InSomnia, which is making its second round on Kickstarter; apparently, the developers didn’t raise enough money the first time around and wound up dropping in $100K of their own funds! Frankly, I’m hoping they’ve better calculated the cost of making a game at this point as they seem somewhat embarrassed to be returning for another round of crowdfunding. That said, InSomnia looks pretty neat; it’s like a dieselpunk version of Fallout that mashes up some elements of the new and older games in the aforementioned series. It’s incredibly ambitious and I hope it succeeds.
