April 2, 2016 Game News Update – Overwatch Censorship, Oculus Launch, Valve’s Legal Trouble
This week’s episode of Game News Update is a bit different from usual; we’re preparing for PAX East and made the episode a little earlier in the week- in addition to the news, we also put together a selection of games that we’re looking forward to seeing during this summer’s E3. This week in game news, the Oculus Rift launched, there was some controversy around Overwatch that sparked discussions about censorship and artistic freedom, Valve got in legal trouble in Australia and some fascinating games have been released.
One bit of news that got me excited this week was the announcement of HoloGrid: Monster Battle, a game that takes after HoloChess from Star Wars– in fact, it features the creatures of Phil Tippett, the legendary animator who created HoloChess in the first place. No word on when the game is coming out, though I do know that the developers are planning on bringing it to virtual reality on PC as well as for smartphones- you can read more about it here.
