Star Wars – Darth Maul – Death Sentence Review!
Alright everyone, I’m going to keep this one nice and short. I’m not what you’d call a “Star-Wars,” fan boy. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy it for what it is, but I have little to no knowledge of the franchise aside from the movies I’ve seen and the video-games I’ve played. I freely admit this is the first Star-Wars comic I have ever read. I’ll admit I didn’t expect much from the Darth Maul themed comic book and it’s story. I mean the guy got cut in half and fell down a reactor core – YET he managed to survive on hate and anger alone. I’ll admit that’s an achievement for anybody, hero OR villain. ALSO he’s just a super torso stuck on a pair of pretty neat looking robot-feet. SO yeah. Murder torso.
Again, I’m just going to say this is a short review. There isn’t much to talk about concerning this story, it’s a very self-contained story that focuses on Darth Maul and his bumbling sith-in-training brother. All this comic and story do are showcasing just how much of a jerk Darth Maul exactly is. I assumed he was a bad guy all around considering he’s a Sith Lord and all that – But I underestimated just how much of, excuse my language, an ass Darth Maul turns out to be. You can’t help but get a vibe of “retribution,” of sorts at specific points in the story – Only for Darth Maul to come around and reinforce the point that he is indeed a Sith Lord and far from being a “nice guy.”
Ultimately this story on its own this an enjoyable story with bare-bones character development. In my opinion it isn’t anything spectacular, but if you’re really into the Star Wars mythos and all of the inter-connected side stories and encounters I think this would be a good purchase for you!
