Interview with Guillame Boucher-Vidal, Creator of GoD Factory: Wingmen
During PAX East 2013, there was a game that caught my attention- it looked like an ordinary space combat sim; it turned out to be much more than that. GoD Factory: Wingmen is a MOBA in which you design a ship and team up with three other people to take down the enemy team’s carrier (while taking care to protect yours). If you’re familiar with the likes of DotA or League of Legends, you’ll have an idea of what gameplay is like, to a certain degree. That said, the game takes place in space, and instead of using good old-fashioned RTS controls for a character, you’re in the cockpit (or staring at it in third person if you prefer)- remember the good old days of 6DOF? No? Alright, remember the space mission in Halo Reach? That’s what gameplay will be like, just, a bit more refined. We’ve embedded an interview with the creator of GoD Factory below. Enjoy!
The game is currently on Kickstarter with a goal of $70,000, and the last time I checked, it had already made over $10,000. If you’re interested in this one, you can help Kickstart it right here. Interested in seeing it on Steam? You can vote for it on Greenlight here.
If there’s one thing I’m looking forward to in this game besides gameplay itself, it’s the species that Mr. Vidal mentioned- sentient battle-plants sound awesome. The fact is that they’re also considering adding support for the Oculus Rift- considering the nature of the game, that could be both terrifying and wonderful.
