Movie News: Heavenly Sword Film Moving Forward
Earlier this week, Sony and Blockade Entertainment revealed a teaser trailer for the upcoming Ratchet and Clank movie, based on the series by Insomniac Games. Needless to say this got the gaming community excited. Heck I’ve only ever played one game in the entire series and I was excited. It helps that the trailer was hilarious.
But it seems Blockade Entertainment wasn’t content with just one videogame adaptation. Today it was announced that the studio will also be working on an animated feature length film adaptation of Ninja Theory’s Heavenly Sword. Anna Torv, from the hit show Fringe as well as the original voice actress for the games protagonist Nariko, will reprise her role for the film, with Alfred Molina reported to play King Bohan, and Thomas Jane as Loki. This is a really solid cast so far as everyone named are fantastic so at least the acting will be top notch.
But of course it wouldn’t be good news with out some thing to worry about. Todd Farmer has been reported to be in charge of scripting duties. The name may not sound familiar, but his prior work might. He was the writer for such classics as Jason X, My Bloody Valentine, and Drive Angry. But who knows, maybe this will be his best work yet, though that’s not saying much.
The Ratchet and Clank film is expected to hit theaters in 2015.
