Game Review: Anomaly 2

Game Review: Anomaly 2

When Anomaly: Warzone Earth was released back around 2011 for the PC, and shortly after, released for the PS3 and Xbox 360, I had an opportunity to review it. In short, the title received nothing less than a 4/5, and many other reviews agreed with me, giving it nearly the same score if not higher. The reason for this is quite obvious- the game was very intuitive, had gorgeous visuals, and it was coupled with very addictive gameplay mechanics. It even came with a survival mode that didn’t remove any sort of entertainment... Read On

Game Review: Cortex Command

Game Review: Cortex Command

I’ve always had a thing for strategy games, and I’ve always had a thing for platformers, but never did I imagine that they could collide- and never quite so beautifully as in Cortex Command. As you may have surmised, the game centers around brains in jars… Alright, you might not have guessed that one (Cortex didn’t tip you off?), but getting back on track, these brains colonize worlds, controlling robots that mine for gold and defend them from other invading robots. Gold that is mined can be used to purchase more robots, weapons, and other handy things. Gameplay takes place... Read On

Game Review: Desert Stormfront

Game Review: Desert Stormfront

As of late, I’ve been a little disappointed with Android as a gaming platform. It’s not held back by much, in my opinion, except perception (not to mention a terrible marketplace). If things were a little better organized on the Android Market (particularly in the games department), great games wouldn’t get buried underneath shovelware. One game that’s gotten buried was Tropical Stormfront, an excellent RTS from Noble Master Games- give it a shot if you haven’t already. Right now, there’s a sequel to Tropical Stormfront and its name is Desert Stormfront- it improves on the original in a great... Read On

Game Review: Red Invasion Tower Defense

Game Review: Red Invasion Tower Defense

Tower defense games are tricky. Most of them can go either way. A lot can go right when creating one, but a lot can also go wrong. Red Invasion tries to be a fun tower defense game, but in the end it doesn’t deliver and just ends up being another average tower defense game. You start off with the basic units sure enough and the game slowly gives you knew units to use. The beginning of each mission you’re given a certain amount of money and a few objectives though the objectives don’t really change much other than some... Read On

Game Review: Diamond Trust of London

Game Review: Diamond Trust of London

It’s funny, really, the crowdfunding craze that’s taken the world by storm as of late- Kickstarter this, Sickstarter that, it drives me mad. Well, almost mad- if not for Kickstarting, an awesome game might not exist. That game is Diamond Trust of London. Diamond Trust is the first (and likely the last for a good long while) crowdfunded game for the Nintendo DS. It’s a digital board game in which you have three agents. You can send them to different regions of Angola to buy diamonds dug by the locals- but there’s a catch. Your competition has three agents... Read On

Game Review: Starvoid

Game Review: Starvoid

Starvoid is one of the latest real-time strategy title published by Paradox Interactive, and developed by Zeal Game Studios on August 30th. The game is a heavily focused multiplayer experience, which in turns abandons the single player campaign. However, the developers promised in exchange a very quick and intense multiplayer experience. To be frank, the main question still remains? Does Starvoid, a heavy multiplayer game have what it takes to challenge other titles like Tryst, or will it be left in the dust? Being a multiplayer heavy experience, the game works somewhat the opposite; it plays as quick as... Read On

Game Review: Fieldrunners

Game Review: Fieldrunners

Tower defense is an interesting genre- hone that seems to thrive on just about every platform, for some reason. Why do we love tower defense? Is it the inherent simplicity of the games in this genre that draw us like flies to honey? Perhaps it’s the urge to protect something that lies dormant in all our hearts. Whatever the case is, Fieldrunners does a good job at bringing it out. I think Fieldrunners is one of the simplest tower defense games I’ve played thus far- it’s pretty hands-off. How can I say that? I’m playing it right now as I’m writing... Read On

Game Review: Run

Game Review: Run

I have a soft spot in my heart for odd, mashed-up art. Why am I drawn to it? I can’t say why. What I can say, however, is that Run is a simple, addictive game that will blow your mind and tug at your heartstrings for your nostalgia. How? Read on. Run, by Christopher Whitman, isn’t your average game. In fact, I’m having trouble classing it as an RTS, platformer, or something else entirely. The game combines elements of different genres with a few different minigames that manage to successfully tell a beautiful, thought-provoking story through gameplay and poetry.... Read On

The game is set in the near future, where the extraterrestrial landed in Baghdad, and Tokyo, unleashing an Anomaly in those locations. You the player direct a battalion addressed as the “14th platoon” into the Anomaly in order to investigate the phenomenon. Game Review: Confrontation

Game Review: Confrontation

Confrontation is a tactical role-playing game developed by Cyanide Studios, and published on April 5, 2012 for the PC. The game takes place within the fantasy universe called Aarklash, where a continent is driven to a never ending war. You, the player control a total of 4 characters from the start, who are called Akklylannian warriors, in a fight to stop the biggest threat from forming. As you progress through the game, you encounter a wide amount of other races that are within the continent, and as you progress additional characters become available. Game Review: Yesterday

Yesterday is an adventure game developed by Pendulo Studios, and released on March 22, 2012. The game takes place within New York City, where beggars start disappearing one by one only to be found murdered, but later they are tortured, and burnt alive. There are a total of 3 playable characters, who are Henry White, Cooper, along with John Yesterday, who has amnesia. The game has a mysterious atmosphere, and sustains this atmosphere throughout the whole game by providing answers, but never providing the reasons behind those answers until the end. Furthermore, the game utilizes a point-and click system,... Read On

Game Review: Tropical Stormfront

Game Review: Tropical Stormfront

If you’re used to gaming on mobile devices, then you’ve probably experienced tower defense titles, which seem to make up the bulk of strategy games on cell phones and tablets. I’ve experienced a couple good ones, but you know what? I’m ready for a change- I want something different, something deeper, something… Full sized. This is where Tropical Stormfront comes in, backed by wondrous, dramatic music. In all seriousness, though, Tropical Stormfront is one of my favorite Android games, and it’s an impressive strategy title. Interested? Read on. Tropical Stormfront is an RTS (Real Time Strategy) title from Noble... Read On

Game Revolution: The Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword

Game Revolution: The Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword

“The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword” deserves an absolute 10 out of 10! I strongly reccomend giving this game a try. A series of challenging bosses, and enemys all coming together to all revive the The Demon King, Demise.            This games ingenious storyline and plot all reflect in the music and time put into thinking of well expected “Zelda twist”. With New combos, weapons, and items this a game worth beating.           Coming from Cowerbunga a hardcore Zelda gamer, A Christmas list worthy game!       Read On

Game Review: Dungeon Defenders

Game Review: Dungeon Defenders

Well, what’s this? Two somewhat similar tower defense titles in one season? Well, I suppose I can start making comparisons in another article, right now I’ll focus my attention on Dungeon Defenders. As I pretty much just told you, it’s a tower defense title that plays a lot like OMD!. The main difference is that this game has quite a few RPG elements mixed in, with four classes, tons of items, pets, and a very sharp learning curve. Aesthetically, the game is quite pleasing, featuring lovely cel-shaded graphics, a nice variety of environments and very nicely animated characters. I must say that... Read On
