New Justice League Teaser from SDCC

New Justice League Teaser from SDCC

Warner Bros. has given this year’s Comic Con attendees quite a treat- in addition to a sweet first trailer for Wonder Woman, an introductory teaser for Justice League released. I’m not going to spoil any of what it contains up here. Just watch it embedded below. Alright, so now that you’ve seen it, what do you think? Personally I’m cautiously optimistic for this one- a bit more than for Wonder Woman since this reminds me a little more of Batman v. Superman in style and tone- what’s worse, it doesn’t seem that the characters are going to be written the way that they are in... Read On

Wonder Woman Trailer Debuts at SDCC 2016

Hot news everybody- the 2016 San Diego Comic Con has delivered a first trailer for the upcoming Wonder Woman– starring Gal Gadot, this movie is coming out on June 2, 2017- we have the first trailer here for your viewing pleasure. I’m honestly not sure what to think of this. On the one hand? I’m tremendously excited for see the DC cinematic universe finally beginning to spread its wings, and at long last, we get a female led superhero movie (sorry, Elektra). On the other hand? I really hated Batman v. Superman largely because it failed to do its characters justice, and... Read On

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a truly great Spider-Man game: will Insomniac deliver in time for Homecoming? Let us know what you think; sound off below or hit us up and follow @Blackmannrobin for all the latest game news, reviews, previews and... Read On

What Supergirl Got Right that Batman v. Superman Didn’t

What Supergirl Got Right that Batman v. Superman Didn’t

This article contains some pretty big spoilers for Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman as well as Supergirl (the CBS show)- you’ve been warned. I’ve come down pretty hard on Supergirl in the past, and for good reason: the show has some serious issues. It opened with a bunch of faux-feminist baggage that never went anywhere, it ruined The Man Who Has Everything story with stupid office hijinks and and pointless auxiliary drama which took away precious storytelling time from what was supposed to be the main plot, and it’s very guilty of ruining the character of Jimmy- excuse me, James Olsen. I would’ve much preferred... Read On

New Captain America: Civil War Trailer Brings Who We’ve Been Waiting For

New Captain America: Civil War Trailer Brings Who We’ve Been Waiting For

You don’t have to be a comic geek to know that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a little bit divided since, before becoming mainly owned by Disney, the different Marvel properties were licensed out to other companies, such as Sony and Fox- hence why the X-Men haven’t appeared in The Avengers, and why nobody says “Mutants” in the MCU. Today, a new trailer was released for the upcoming Captain America: Civil War– and it looks like the MCU just became a little bit more united. Needless to say, minor (exciting) spoilers ensue. Excited? Personally, I’m glad that Spider-Man is finally getting... Read On

Big Hero 6 Television Series Coming in 2017

Big Hero 6 Television Series Coming in 2017

One of my favorite animated films of 2014 will be getting a television adaptation next year; a Big Hero 6 television show is currently in production and set to air on Disney XD. The show’s premise? Hiro, the main character from the film, will be going to college at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology “and he faces daunting academic challenges”- also, he’s going to be a kid going to a college full of people older than him- another challenge in itself. Big Hero 6: The Series won’t be all work and no heroism, however- San Fransokyo will be threatened by... Read On

New Trailer and Posters for Captain America: Civil War

Fantastic news, folks: there’s a new trailer out for Captain America: Civil War– set to be released in theaters May 2016, it looks very, very exciting- if you’ve not seen The Winter Soldier, be forewarned that spoilers ensue. Alright, you don’t care about spoilers? Bucky’s back, Cap’s at odds with the authorities- doing the right thing doesn’t always mean following orders- and Black Panther makes an appearance in the trailer! Check it out below: Frankly, I don’t know where to begin gushing about this thing- the dramatic fight between Iron Man, Cap and Bucky?  and I’m hoping that there’s some sort... Read On

The Awkward, Half-Hearted Feminism of CBS’s Supergirl

The Awkward, Half-Hearted Feminism of CBS’s Supergirl

I’d like to preface this article by saying that I’m happy that Supergirl got produced in the first place, and that I’m glad that feminism is a subject that was broached in the first episode. After all, the titular character is the first superheroine to have her own live-action television show in the last thirteen years- the last time we had a female-fronted superhero show it was 2002’s Birds of Prey, which was… Well, we don’t really talk about Birds of Prey much, do we? But back on topic, a female-led superhero show seems like a great place for having feminist themes;... Read On

NYCC 2015: Interview with Tim Lattie, Creator of Night Stars

NYCC 2015: Interview with Tim Lattie, Creator of Night Stars

During the 2014 New York Comic Con I picked up the first issue of a comic that caught my eye- Night Stars, by Tim Lattie. In Night Stars, a group of youngsters find themselves pulled into a time-traveling alien vessel and wind up going on all sorts of wild adventures- inspired by the cartoon Mysterious Cities of Gold and the works of Van Gogh, Night Stars is well worth checking out if you’re looking for a fun, action-packed comic you can share with the kids. It was neat discovering that Mr. Lattie’s favorite comic is the criminally underrated 90s Spider Girl series, and in my research... Read On

New Season 4 Trailer for Arrow Released!

This week is DragonCon down in Atlanta Georgia, and one of the first treats from that convention is the trailer for the fourth season of Arrow, the CW’s adaptation of the Green Arrow comics. Check it out below! The show comes back on October 7, 2015. So, what do we have here? Spoilers, obviously, but it seems that Oliver Queen is finally happy and that Ollicity is permanent. Also, Felicity’s character has changed again (hopefully that strange crying voice she did through the last half of season three is gone forever), and Diggle is suited up. Also, as anticipated, the Thea that came out of the... Read On

First Episode of Vixen Out Now on CW Seed- Where to Watch

If you’re a fan of Arrow and The Flash, you’re going to want to check out Vixen, which just debuted on CW Seed. It features characters from the two aforementioned shows- albeit in animated form- along with the titular Vixen, whose animal-based superpowers come from a mysterious necklace. We have a quick featurette with more information on the series embedded below for your viewing pleasure. Personally, I’m glad that there’s a new animated superhero show out- even if it’s being served in five minute webisode form. While I’m not familiar with the Vixen comics (I only know the character thanks to Justice League), she is... Read On

DC Entertainment Expands Primetime Roster

DC Entertainment Expands Primetime Roster

For a while superhero genres were restricted to the big screen. The only TV series I remember that actually lasted more than 2 season was that god-awful show Smallville. But, on a positive note, our favorite vigilantes are slowly taking over the small screen one step at a time. Shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, The Flash, Arrow, and Gotham are just a few of the popular prime time television shows ruling cable nowadays. However, DC Entertainment has big plans and has released some bits of information on their upcoming roster of superheroes hitting your TV set (not literally but you get my drift). The first... Read Here: The First Chapter of “La Horde du Contrevent” (The Horde of Counterwind)

If you’re a sci-fi fan, there’s a chance you’ve heard of La Horde du Contrevent, by Alain Damasio; it’s a French novel set in a world in which the wind is always blowing, and humanity has, for many generations, sent out walkers into the wind in order to find its source; none have ever returned from the journey. While the novel is considered a cult classic among French sci-fi fans, the English translation isn’t yet available- but we have the very first chapter of the book available to read thanks to the Kickstarter for Windwalkers, which is the first part of a transmedia experience... Kickstarter for Windwalkers Game Looks Amazing

Kickstarter for Windwalkers Game Looks Amazing

UPDATE: The Kickstarter for the movie is now live. It’s been a little while since I last covered a Kickstarter project; today, I received an email for an incredibly ambitious transmedia project called Windwalkers. What the Windwalkers project seeks to do is adapt the French sci-fi novel La Horde du Contrevent into a film, comic, and video game. The current Kickstarter is just for the game, with a goal of $330,000 CAD. The project is certainly an ambitious one- and it shows in the Kickstarter pitch video. I’ve never seen one quite so impressive before; however the game turns out, the pitch video... Read On

Sony’s Dirty Laundry Just Got Leaked

Sony’s Dirty Laundry Just Got Leaked

From leaked Social Security numbers, celebrity phone numbers, and movie scripts, it seems that Sony Pictures is under some hot water. The major film/electronics company has recently been under a so-called ‘cyber attack’ after the controversial film The Interview (which features Kim Jong Un’s head being lit on fire) was premiered in LA and started a ridiculously insane hacking frenzy from supposed Korean Hackers. What does this mean to us movie-goers? A lot. Denzel Washington was labeled as ‘un-profitable’ by Sony executives because he’s black. Think he’ll ever work on a movie by Sony again? I think not. Angelina Jolie... Read On
