Game News: Mori Teaser Picks Up Where Braid Left Off

Game News: Mori Teaser Picks Up Where Braid Left Off

There are a great many beautiful platfomers coming out in the next few months, and inevitably in the coming years for as long as platformers will be made, but at the moment nothing quite has my attention quite like Mori. Just for the record, this game isn’t (at all) affiliated with Braid, but for some reason… It looks like it could take us back to that special place. A trailer has dropped and it looks gorgeous, check it out below. I can’t help but be reminded of Braid– while the art style is rather different, it appears to share time-manipulation as... Read On

Game News: Vacant Sky: Awakening Looks Like a Good Reason to Own a Vita

Game News: Vacant Sky: Awakening Looks Like a Good Reason to Own a Vita

It’s not too often that a game will make me want to own a new platform, but Vacant Sky: Awakening sounds particularly tantalizing for Vita owners (it’s coming to the Ouya, Androind and PC as well so there’s no need to fret). What is it? It’s an upcoming RPG that seems to be in the same vein as games like Alcarys Complex (stick around for our review of that one). The game has a focus on story, as is natural to RPGs, but seeks to take them back to their roots while avoiding the clichés and conventions of current... Read On

Game News: Grimind Looks Like LIMBO Got Hit by a Rainbow

Game News: Grimind Looks Like LIMBO Got Hit by a Rainbow

It’s not too often you’ll see a horror-themed platformer with such a bright color palette, but Grimind looks to break the mold; the trailer’s below! Aesthetically, I’m really digging Grimind– can a horror game pull off dark themes as amnesia and loneliness with such insanely bright colors and an adorable (semi-adorable) rabbit-creature? Time shall tell. Here’s a bit more info ripped from the official press release: You have no memories… You don’t know who you are… You don’t know where you are… That’s all I can tell you right now Grimind is a 2D,physics based, adventure, platform game in horror/creepy theme. Game News: Ballpoint Universe Looks Amazing

Game News: Ballpoint Universe Looks Amazing

I’ve seen a lot of shmups in my day. Shmups with good art, bad art, lame art… Most of them seem to take place in the skies above earth or in outer space- but what about a shmup that takes place in the inner space of a notebook? Say hello to Ballpoint Universe. The game boasts some of the most creative visuals I’ve ever seen- while I’ve always thought about what a game would look like if done with simple pen drawings, I never imagined I’d ever see one done- until now. Here’s a word from the game’s creator:... Read On

Game News: Poet Packs Heat in New Platformer Called “Edgar”

Game News: Poet Packs Heat in New Platformer Called “Edgar”

I’ve seen games cover a wide variety of subjects ranging from alcoholism to the problems with objectivism, but never before have I seen a game starring the classic literary figure Edgar Allen Poe, one of my favorite writers and, to be honest, the man I least expected to star in a video game… Ever.Edgar is an upcoming indie platformer in which you play as Poe himself chasing Jack the Ripper through an alternative Victorian England. Armed with a variety of weapons, your ammo is ink, your pajamas are pink and you’ll wind up wearing several different costumes throughout the... Read On

Game News: Steve Wozniak to Star in “Woz with a Coz”… Unexpectedly Gritty

Game News: Steve Wozniak to Star in “Woz with a Coz”… Unexpectedly Gritty

I’ve always known that Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak had a thing for video games- the man’s a Tetris grandmaster. For the first time, however, Mr. Wozniak will actually be starring in a video game, and to be honest, it’s not what I was expecting… I was expecting a game about a man who loved making technology. What I found, however, was something more akin to a platformer that could well be Taken: The Video Game. Danny Trejo is a playable character for goodness sakes- the game’s full title is Danny Trejo’s Vengeance: Woz with a Coz. Here’s some info ripped... Read On

Natural Selection 2 is one of those titles that have been in the making for 4 year or more, however, it will finally arrived on October 31st, 2012. Natural Selection 2 simply dives right into the action. The player can either play as a alien, or as a human. Both sides are quite distinct. The human side demonstrates its use of technology. These range from gates to making advance weapons. While aliens... Read On

Game News: Rockstar Releases New GTA V Trailer

Game News: Rockstar Releases New GTA V Trailer

You gotta love Rockstar. They make some amazing games, but I’ll be damned if they’re not annoying when it comes to releasing info about their upcoming games. They pretty much release the news at their own pace regardless of the millions of fans clamoring for any little bit they can throw our way. Well following the recent GameInformer issue Rockstar was nice enough to release a brand new trailer for the upcomingGrand Theft Auto V. Of course it still doesn’t reveal much other than it looks to be pretty crazy in the action department. I wonder how much they... Read On

Game News: McBank: The Puzzle of Money and Freedom Coming Soon; Looks Eerie and Witty

Puzzle games, puzzle games, will we ever tire of them? I suppose not; we’ve had puzzles since the dawn of games and will probably continue to play them long into the singularity. Until that happens, we’ll probably enjoy McBank: The Puzzle of Money and Freedom. Developed by Honey Tribe, McBank is a game that seems to focus on the nature of materialism- quite an interesting idea. The trailer’s below, along with some more info ripped from the press release. Money. Or freedom. What is more important to you? The people, rich and poor alike, all bow down to the... Read On

Game News: Of Orcs And Men Launch Trailer!

Game News: Of Orcs And Men Launch Trailer!

Of Orcs And Men, set to be a fantastic story of war between various factions in long distant realms, will be told in the form of an RPG which should be a breath of fresh air as I have been missing out on good old fashioned story telling at the moment. If you have painfully endured the long console RPG drought this summer then this title looks to be a excellent form of sustenance until we see Assassins Creed III or Black Ops II. A story that seems reminiscent of The Lord of The Rings trilogy in terms of the mythos and... Read On

Game News: The Top 10 Underrated Games of Steam Greenlight

Game News: The Top 10 Underrated Games of Steam Greenlight

Ah, Valve, will you ever stop doing awesome things? In case you haven’t heard, Valve has recently launched a new service called Greenlight, which allows Steam users to vote on which games should (or shouldn’t) come to Valve’s massive distribution platform. Right about now, Greenlight is flooded with games. Between the low-grade adventure games (not that I have anything against a good point & click- it’s just that a lot of the ones on Greenlight are atrocious), the low-brow ripoffs of bigger games and the neon-colored shmups (I only included one- I promise!), it’s hard to find stuff worth voting... Game News: Terraria Coming to XBLA and PSN- Met with Mixed Reactions

Re-Logic recently announced that their 2D sandbox hit Terraria is coming to consoles at long last- namely the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 as a downloadable title. All seemed well until they mentioned that these versions will have exclusive content- the kind that’s not found in the PC version. Some have taken this as a sign of Re-Logic selling out, others are elated. Frankly, I’m pretty happy to hear the news- while I am slightly concerned by the idea of console exclusive content, I’m glad to hear that the game is going to reach more people. Terraria is pretty... Game News: La Mulana Looks Like an Awesome Blend of Classic Games

I know the Wii U’s release is probably right around the corner, but that doesn’t mean the Wii still can’t be shown some love. While Wii games themselves have stopped being developed, Wii Ware games still keep on being churned out. I came across a trailer for one coming out called La Mulana and I must say it looks pretty awesome. It’s like Indiana Jones  meets Castlevania, which sounds pretty awesome to me. I’m loving that it’s a combination of so many classic games which means that it will be quite the challenge indeed. Look forward to seeing my review when the... Read On
