New Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer Showcases Story

New Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer Showcases Story

As we get closer to the release of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Activision and Sledgehammer Games are stepping up their PR game with a new trailer that gives us a good look at the story. Also we get to see Kevin Spacey give a great performance that House of Cards fans will be all too familiar with so naturally he is going to be awesome. I’m not really a huge Call of Duty fan and have felt the series become stale in recent years. However with each new video I see for this game I can’t help but get excited about... Read On

Old Art Meets New Tech- First Impressions of Testament of the White Cypress

Old Art Meets New Tech- First Impressions of Testament of the White Cypress

Quite often- far too often, really, I complain about the wonderful first-world-woes of being a game journalist. “There are far too many games to review!” I whine. And indeed, my inbox continues to overflow with press releases for amazing games- far more than I’ll probably get to play in my lifetime. Right now, the trend is toward space related games- which is nice for me, as a huge fan of science fiction (and a sci-fi author!), but sometimes, I get sick of staring into the stars. Don’t get me wrong- I hope these space games continue for a good long... 30 Minutes of MGS V: The Phantom Pain Gameplay

30 Minutes of MGS V: The Phantom Pain Gameplay

Yesterday it was announced that Kojima productions would be doing a live stream of 30 minutes of gameplay from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Unfortunately for most of us it would be streaming very early in the morning (when pretty much everyone would still be asleep). Thankfully the full stream is available to view online and here it is. Just skip to the 50 minute mark to get to the gameplay.   The game is shaping up to be one of the best Metal Gear Solid experiences (at least in the gameplay department) and I am very... Read On

Batman: Arkham Knight Gameplay Trailer Revealed

Ever since the announcement of Batman: Arkham Knight, gamers have been eager to see gameplay footage (I know I have). Today DC Entertainment released a gameplay trailer though we don’t see much of the gameplay other than Batman whipping around in the Batmobile. Still it’s exciting to see, especially with the beautiful graphics and it further sets the tone for the final entry in the Arkham trilogy.   Batman: Arkham Knight is expected to release later this year for the PS4 and Xbox One.   For more game reviews, news and other geek insight be sure to follow Peter Rivera... Halo 5: Guardians Announced for Fall 2015

Halo 5: Guardians Announced for Fall 2015

We all knew it was coming, but today Bonnie Ross, the General Manager at 343 Industries, has officially announced Halo 5: Guardians will be released in the Fall of 2015 for the Xbox One. I’m happy to reveal that “Halo 5: Guardians,” the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015.  In the tradition of every “Halo” game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project. “Halo 5: Guardians” is a bigger effort than “Halo 4.”  That applies to the content and scope of... Is Greenlight Running Out of Steam?

Is Greenlight Running Out of Steam?

I saw it happening again. Another indie, fed up with being ignored by the masses, put his game up to download for free via the magic of Bittorent in hopes that somebody would pay it attention. Frankly, I can’t blame him, though I hope his is the last I see for a while. It’s not as though he hasn’t done anything to put his game out there- he has an active Twitter page and has obviously put lots of work into promoting his game. In spite of this, however, I hadn’t heard of Ciro Continisio’s game, UFHO2, or his... Read On

Tomb Raider Fan Film is Amazing!

Tomb Raider Fan Film is Amazing!

Tomb Raider was one of the best games I’ve played this year. It did such a fantastic job of reintroducing gamers and fans to Lara Croft. I’m a huge fan of the redesign and can’t wait for the inevitable sequel. And it appears I’m not the only one who loved it as well. Fan films are aplenty and some are truly amazing showcases. This one right here is amazing and I guarantee your jaw will drop. This ladies and gentlemen is how you do a Lara Croft film. Read On

Three Things Other Games Can Learn from Game Dev Tycoon

Three Things Other Games Can Learn from Game Dev Tycoon

NOTE: The following contains mild spoilers for Game Dev Tycoon When I first caught wind of Game Dev Tycoon, I almost wrote it off as a clone of Game Dev Story- after playing it, I’m very glad that I didn’t. I suppose it’d be like writing off Ms. Pacman as a clone of the original game, rather than an improvement and refinement and indeed, Game Dev Tycoon definitely makes some wonderful improvements on the formula of it’s predecessor- in fact, it did some things that impressed me a lot- here are three things that other games can learn from Game Dev Tycoon. 1. Morality Systems with Long-Term... PlayIt 2013 – Hungary’s Gaming Convention

PlayIt 2013 – Hungary’s Gaming Convention

In Hungary, a little country in the middle of Europe, there’s an awesome game show twice in a year. Gamers from the whole  country come together in the capital city (Budapest) to meet friends, try new titles, and buy games for about half of the original price. The show is getting bigger and bigger, and more and more popular.  I enjoy every show more than the previous one,  and people seem to share this opinion. Let’s see how I spent that day. I got up at 7 a.m. since my friend was about to pick me up at 8 a.m. ... Read On

First Impressions: Spacechem

First Impressions: Spacechem

The latest sale from Bundle Stars is quite wonderful; it features Sword of the Stars II, Project Freedom, Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, Really Big Sky, Planets Under Attack, Datajammers: Flash Forward, Ion Assault, and, as you may have guessed, Spacechem. At the time of my writing this, it’s on sale for $2.66, a deal that really oughtn’t be passed up- money from sales of the bundle go to the charity Special Effect, and frankly, these are some really great games. So, what’s Spacechem like? It’s a game that I’d heard of and known about for a while, but, to be honest, had no idea about. Curious,... Read On

Interview with Lead Developer Vladimir at Life is Feudal

Interview with Lead Developer Vladimir at Life is Feudal

Life is Feudal is a game based around the concept of reality. It is not the conventional MMORPG whereby scantily-clad characters frolic in a cartoon world without a care in the world. No: LiF is a brutally realistic game. It is set in a fictitious continent where land and resources are as important as in real life. For example, if you want to build a hut you need land, resources and a skill base in architecture. The building requires maintenance, and more importantly protection from other players and tribes. There are no levels, no monsters and to a certain... Read On

The Oculus Rift and Gaming’s Future: Inside the Boston Virtual Reality Meetup

The Oculus Rift and Gaming’s Future: Inside the Boston Virtual Reality Meetup

Early one November morning, I crawled from my bed at an unearthly hour, got dressed, and began my hours-long trek from the comfort of my Connecticut home to the rather friendly streets of Boston. I was on my way to the Boston Virtual Reality Meetup, where I’d experience the Oculus Rift for the first time, get my hands on upcoming HD prototype, and check out some of the latest indie games coming to the Rift. For the most part, my journey went well- after a train ride through scenic New England (during which the theme from The Raven wouldn’t... Read On
