“Evangelion: Another Impact” New Short from Studio Khara

“Evangelion: Another Impact” New Short from Studio Khara

On February 9th studio Khara released a short film titled “Evangelion: Another Impact” on its official website.  The short features a new eva unit called Unit Null.  During a sensory check the unit hears a voice and goes berserk in a desolate city with is assumed to be Tokyo-3.  The giant mecha, which bears a striking resemblance to Unit 1 in color scheme and armor, rampages through a building before howling into the sky. This short showcases a sub story in the Evangelion lore, with the Null Unit being kept under complete secrecy.  Why did this unit break free... Read On

Life is Strange First Impressions and Launch Trailer

Life is Strange First Impressions and Launch Trailer

I’m going to start this off by making the strangest video game connection (no pun intended). Never since Persona 3 & 4 has a video game nailed the dynamics of high school life. Cliques, nerds, jocks, and faculty are all accounted for. Coming fresh off of two back to back Telltales titles I was a little reluctant to jump back into another adventure game but I found the conceit of the game too intriguing to pass up. Maxine Caulfield is a high school student who in the opening moments of Life is Strange’s first episode awakens to a time... Read On

An Update on Under the Dog

An Update on Under the Dog

A couple months ago I was in talks with Hiroaki Yura, founder and CEO of Creative Intelligence Arts, the production studio behind Under the Dog, to have an interview concerning the project. As of January 21st however, Hiroaki Yura and his studio are pulling out of the project, and handing it over to Kinema Citrus.  In a press release Hiroaki was quoted saying ““In order to comply with certain requests from members of the UTD creative team, and to deliver an unhindered product to our backers, CIA is hereby removing itself from the UTD project,” Hiroaki assures Kickstarter backers that... Sunless Sea on the Horizon

Sunless Sea on the Horizon

I’ve only just dipped my toes in the beta build of Sunless Sea, Failbetter’s follow up to Fallen London, but it’s clear there’s an ocean of content waiting to be plundered beneath its murky depths. It’s an ambitious ask, a narrative focused roguelike with RPG elements and trading sim gameplay all set in a Victorian era post-hell-takeover (as much corporate takeover as it is fire and brimstone) underworld sea. I’m entirely unsure if it all works as cogently as I’d hoped but the game is awash with such strong writing and style I’ve more than enjoyed my experience so... Read On

Sony’s Dirty Laundry Just Got Leaked

Sony’s Dirty Laundry Just Got Leaked

From leaked Social Security numbers, celebrity phone numbers, and movie scripts, it seems that Sony Pictures is under some hot water. The major film/electronics company has recently been under a so-called ‘cyber attack’ after the controversial film The Interview (which features Kim Jong Un’s head being lit on fire) was premiered in LA and started a ridiculously insane hacking frenzy from supposed Korean Hackers. What does this mean to us movie-goers? A lot. Denzel Washington was labeled as ‘un-profitable’ by Sony executives because he’s black. Think he’ll ever work on a movie by Sony again? I think not. Angelina Jolie... Read On

PlayIt Hungary, 2014 November 29-30

PlayIt Hungary, 2014 November 29-30

Two guys, both scared of public transport and people generally, travel to the capital on their own for the country’s biggest game show. What could possibly go wrong? Everything, of course. That’s why I’m surprised that the show went pretty well. PlayIt Hungary is the biggest gaming convention of the country, and it’s pretty big even on a Europe scale. You can find the newest titles, platforms, high-end computers, exhibitions, and basically anything related to gaming, cosplay, and other nerdy things. The show is held twice a year, this time it lasted for two days. After some last-minute organizing... Read On

Welcome back for another fantastic episode of Blackman N’ Robin’s gaming podcast New Game Plus. Also we delve into why once again The Game Awards were awful and we pay our respects to the late Ralph Baer, The Father of Video Games. Come back next week for another awesome episode and check back frequently for... Read On

First Gameplay Footage of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

First Gameplay Footage of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

This came as no surprise, but today during Sony’s PlayStation Experience conference Naughty Dog showed off a good chunk of gameplay for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. If you thought that initial trailer at E3 was beautiful, this is even more so. We see the series’ signature gunplay and climbing, though it seems they took a cue from the recent Tomb Raider game and added some rock climbing gear to the mix. I wasn’t super excited for this game when they announced it back at E3 (though still fairly excited) but after seeing this new footage I am pumped... Read On

Street Fighter V Gameplay Trailer; Confirmed PS4/PC Exclusive

Today during Sony’s PlayStation Experience conference it was officially announced (after much joking about the leak) there will indeed be a Street Fighter V and it will be exclusive to the PS4 and PC. Sorry Xbox, no Street Fighter love for you. Also there will be cross gameplay between the PS4 and PC versions so everyone’s competition just got a whole lot bigger. Street Fighter V Announcement Leaked, PS4/PC Exclusive

With the PlayStation Experience coming up there are bound to be a ton of announcements made about upcoming comes for the PS4. Well according to a leaked video that appeared on YouTube and has since been taken down, Street Fighter V is said to be one of those games. The video doesn’t show any footage of the game, but it does reveal a logo and claims that the game will be a PS4/PC exclusive. Whether that means it is a timed exclusive like Rise of the Tomb Raider remains to be seen, so until an official announcement is made... Read On

This War of Mine Gets Release Date; Gameplay Trailer

This one almost slipped past me until I got an e-mail about it. Coming from 11 bit studios is a new game called This War of Mine, which looks to give us a new perspective of war. Instead of playing as a soldier or some other typical bad-ass going around shooting people, you’ll be playing as civilians trying to survive a city under siege. That’s an interesting concept given to amount of war time games out there where you play the ultimate bad-ass. Here’s the trailer to give you a glimpse at the gameplay: The game looks pretty intense... Read On
