This Week in Comics

After an unfortunately long amount of time spent waiting for my laptop to be repaired, injuring myself, and losing all track of time; I’m finally writing an actual post! I hope to get on her every week and write a little something about what’s going on in the comic book world, most of which will be personal opinion, so feel free to comment with your own and let me know what else you would like to see covered! Just remember, it’s my first time.. be gentle! For this particular post I’m going to be covering about a months worth... Read On

12 Monkeys at NYCC 2014 – Thoughts on the First Episode

12 Monkeys at NYCC 2014 – Thoughts on the First Episode

I received a bevy of emails in the days leading up to NYCC 2014- I could hardly stay sane trying to sort through them all- but one in particular stood out to me. I was invited to a slightly secret screening of the upcoming Syfy television show 12 Monkeys, which is an adaptation of the film of the same name. The screening was held away from the Javits Center on Friday night- getting there took a bit of effort, and, to be honest, I almost didn’t go- but I’m happy I did. Before I start talking about what I saw, it’s time for... Read On

Well, BNR got to attend NYCC 2014- and we have the photographs to prove it. Here are pictures from the various events we attended and of the cosplayers we captured and of all the fun that was had at the Javits Center that fateful weekend. Enjoy! Tomorrowland, Big Hero 6, and George Clooney- NYCC 2014

On October 9, 2014, at the New York Comic Con, Disney held a panel for two of their upcoming films, Big Hero 6 and Tomorrowland. For BH6, producer Roy Conli and directors Don Hall and Chris Williams took the stage and discussed their process; how they came to know and love Big Hero 6 from the comic it was born out of, some of the assorted challenges of bringing it to the big screen, etc.- and we, the audience, were treated to some extended previews of the movie, and we got to hear from some of the film’s voice actors as they sat in on... First Thoughts on ScreenCheat

First Thoughts on ScreenCheat

Being a pretty big gamer myself, I thought I’ve seen everything. I’ve effortlessly guessed which games were going to get sequels, what’s worth buying, I’ve thought I knew everything. But the beauty of video games is that they can come up with surprises. Every now I then I get thrown out of my comfortable but boring routine and I see something new, something that I haven’t experienced before. ScreenCheat just did that. Local gaming with friends is fun, right? Usually they are. But they have some disadvantages. For example, when you’re playing against others, your enemies can look at... Read On

Winter Sports Sim SNOW Gets Updated

Winter Sports Sim SNOW Gets Updated

I’ve previously written about SNOW on this site, so I will not go into the base details of the game. What this article is going to concentrate on is the massive update the developers published so far. The new content includes lots of new things, some of them were really starting to become necessary. First of all, the game has sound effects now- earlier on in development, there was no audio in SNOW, this update brings us sound effects of all kinds, starting from the sound of snow crunching under your skis to the sound of the wind rustling... New Final Fantasy XV Trailer!

New Final Fantasy XV Trailer!

It’s been a year and a half since we last saw anything new for Square Enix’s long overdue Final Fantasy XV. Think about that for a bit. Seeing as how they have a lot riding on this game, they were smart enough to gives gamers something to feast their eyes upon, especially with TGS this week. So here it is, your new trailer. Enjoy it now, who knows when we might be seeing a new one. The gameplay still looks pretty cool, though the trailer itself wasn’t exactly great. Hopefully we’ll get more news and footage during TGS this... Read On

“Steamworld Heist”, follow-up to “Steamworld Dig”, Announced

“Steamworld Heist”, follow-up to “Steamworld Dig”, Announced

Image & Form, the Swedish studio behind the critically acclaimed Steamworld Dig, has announced that there’s going to be a new game in the universe- Steamworld Heist. It’s not a sequel to the first game, but takes the world in a new direction. Apparently, the Steamworld has gone from a dusty western town to the dark depths of outer space- it’s not a fast-paced metroidvania platformer but a turn-based strategy game. It’s set after some cataclysmic event blew apart the world we came to love in Steamworld Dig, and things are pretty rough- you have a ragtag bunch of robots trying to survive their harsh new... Interview Preview: Under the Dog with Hiroaki Yura

Interview Preview: Under the Dog with Hiroaki Yura

As of September 7th, 2014 Jiro Ishii’s passion project, 17 years in the making, came true when on Kickstarter he raised $580,000 for “Under the Dog”, a sci-fi anime created by studio Creative Intelligence Art. It was exciting, and pretty nerve racking, to see this project’s number count slowly climb up (and I’m sure it was a million times worse for the development team).  Under the Dog brought together a lot of veterans in the anime industry such as director Masahrio Ando who was the storyboard artist for such hits as “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex”, (my... Pokemon Fighting Game Announced!

Pokemon Fighting Game Announced!

Seeing Pokémon battle in different games is nothing new. Pokémon Stadium and Super Smash Bros allowed players new ways to battle with Pokémon. Apparently that wasn’t enough as The Pokémon Company and Badai Namco have teamed up to give players a more hardcore Pokemon battle experience in an arcade game titled POKKÉN TOURNAMENT. This is…interesting. It’s odd that they would develop this as an arcade game, but then again Metal Gear Solid’s online multiplayer was also in Japanese arcades as well. No word on if/when this will hit stateside, but seeing as how the trailer has English in it I wouldn’t be... Read On

Rise of the Tomb Raider to be Xbox One Exclusive

Gamescon kicked off this week with Microsoft having an Xbox press conference bright and early in the day. Many of the games due out this fall made their usual appearance, however they did touch upon a few games that are not due until next year. One of which is Crystal Dynamics’ follow up to their Tomb Raider reboot, Rise of the Tomb Raider.  The typical jargon was dished out about how the studio is working to make everything better than the last game. However at the end of the segment came a surprise twist. Rise of the Tomb Raider has... Read On

New Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer Showcases Story

New Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer Showcases Story

As we get closer to the release of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Activision and Sledgehammer Games are stepping up their PR game with a new trailer that gives us a good look at the story. Also we get to see Kevin Spacey give a great performance that House of Cards fans will be all too familiar with so naturally he is going to be awesome. I’m not really a huge Call of Duty fan and have felt the series become stale in recent years. However with each new video I see for this game I can’t help but get excited about... Read On
